Hi, I am Magnus! After having lived in Stockholm for over 40 years, I have come to cherish and enjoy certain neighbourhoods and particular parts of Stockholm which offer both historical and serene nature experiences. Bits and pieces of Stockholm that I want to share with you! By foot, by boat and by public transport. Trips we do together for a half day, or for a full day. My city-walk starts in my flat with coffee, so we can get to know eachother. My philosophy: I have experienced that walking and sailing have much in common. It’s not the destination that is most important – it’s the route to the destination that provides the experience and well-being. I used to teach, biology and chemistry. Then worked for the UN Association of Sweden, and later International Union of Tenants.

  • What you will see and do

Sandhamn is perhaps the most important natural port in the archipelago. In wintertime there are only around 100 inhabitants, but in the summer around 3000 people come and live on the Island.
Sandhamn is a popular summer resort, with several restaurants - but only one is open in the winter.
We go by bus to Stavnäs, approx. 1 hr, where we board one of several vessels to Sandhamn. The boat trip takes 30-45 min, and you get to experience the famous archipelago, with over 25,000 islands.

Then perhaps it's already time for lunch? Or coffee? You choose!

We then walk through the old parts of the village, with quaint houses and narrow gravel lanes. If my friend is at home we stop and say 'hallo' - and maybe she invites us in!
Onwards we walk along the waterfront, on small roads, and on paths, over rocks and over sandy beaches.

We walk back to the village, and wait for the boat to take us back to the mainland.
We might need another coffee while waiting for the boat.

Magnus was a delight and a knowledgeable tour guide. We felt like he was a friend showing us around beautiful Sandhamm and Stockholm. He spoke about Sweden's history and life in Sweden today, and answered any questions we had. His smile was a breath of fresh air, we can see he is passionate about his work, and takes time to get to know people he is guiding. Thank you Magnus! :)

What a lovely winter day to explore the archipelago! The weather was perfect and the sunshine made the snow glisten so beautifully. Magnus was great at communicating before the excursion. He was easy to talk to and very friendly. After exploring the island we had a good lunch at a cafe near the ferry terminal. It was a great day! I was so glad that I signed up for the ferry adventure or else I would have had a difficult time navigating the various bus transfers to perfectly coordinate with the ferry schedule. I would highly recommend the excursion!

Touring the Swedish Archipelago with Magnus as guide was amazing. He is very educated on this area and is most personable.
