Hi, I am Magnus! After having lived in Stockholm for over 40 years, I have come to cherish and enjoy certain neighbourhoods and particular parts of Stockholm which offer both historical and serene nature experiences. Bits and pieces of Stockholm that I want to share with you! By foot, by boat and by public transport. Trips we do together for a half day, or for a full day. My city-walk starts in my flat with coffee, so we can get to know eachother. My philosophy: I have experienced that walking and sailing have much in common. It’s not the destination that is most important – it’s the route to the destination that provides the experience and well-being. I used to teach, biology and chemistry. Then worked for the UN Association of Sweden, and later International Union of Tenants.

  • What you will see and do

My city walk with a coffee, if you like, so that we can get a chance to chat before we head off.
We will start walking on the bridge Västerbron, Stockholm’s highest and longest bridge, with panoramic views of the city. We come to the prison island Långholmen, followed by Reimersholme where schnapps and vodka were distilled and sold cheaply to the masses. Onwards over to trendy Södermalm, where we have lunch. Then across the allotments in the Tanto park, to lively Mariatorget, Maria Square. If your legs are still willing, we continue back “home”, via Gamla Stan, the Old City.

    March 2018

Met up with Magnus on a cold but sunny Stockholm morning. We have asked him to take us around this beautiful city's historical centre. Magnus is passionate and knowledgeable about his city. He is also very well-travelled so it was interesting for us to learn about the Swedish culture & society via his insightful perspectives. Stockholm itself is picturesque & filled with many majestic (but non-imposing) buildings with their own distinctive style. A great half-day walk, highly recommended!
