Hi! My name is Julia. Born in Russia, I've become a passionate lover of Sweden and everything about and around it. That's why I've spent half of my life studying the Swedish mentality, traditions and history... At the moment I work with various projects, some of which involve teaching Swedish, guiding in Sweden, writing books about Sweden - and that's what I'd like to share with you: my knowledge of all the secrets I've discovered so far. What makes me so different from other guides? Well, here are some examples: - I've written 3 thick travel guides over Sweden, Stockholm and Scandinavia, all of them with tons of fascinating facts - I've been guiding in Sweden since 2000 - I create excursions for various travel agencies - I give lectures about Swedish mentality and customs

  • What you will see and do

Today, Sweden is a constitutional and hereditary monarchy with a parliamentary system. The monarchy became hereditary back in the 16th century, but royal dynasties had existed in the country long before that.
Some of the kings have become so prominent and important that statues have been erected to commemorate them. Let’s try to find out who all those Gustavs and Karls were!
During our walk, we’ll stop at some of the statues to discuss the kings’ and queens’ fates and achievements.
    - Who founded Stockholm?
    - Who built the Opera building and whose collection is to be found at the National Museum?
    - Why is Karl XII so popular in Sweden but laughed at in Russia?
    - Why are the two monuments in Kungsträdgården nicknamed as The Lion surrounded by flowerpots and The flowerpots surrounded by lions?
    We’ll also:
    - hear the story of the Swedish Cinderella,
    - learn some rumors about the Royal Casanova,
    - listen to the stories about the bulletproof boots,
    - find out where the Princess’s treasure is hidden.

    Extended tour
This 2 hours long tour may be extended with an additional 30 minutes for an extra fee of 20 EUR for the whole group. During this extra part we visit:
    - the main cathedral in Stockholm Storkyrkan (entrance fee 60 SEK), where we can see the most gorgeous statue Saint George and the dragon and the oldest depiction of Stockholm in color, being also the world's oldest depiction of the phenomenon of sun dogs (certainly I'll tell you what it is).
    - Riddarholmskyrkan (open in the summer period and certain days during the year, entrance fee 50 SEK), where we can discover the graves of some of the Swedish kings and even learn a legend behind one of the tombstones.

Please mind that you should also pay the entrance fee for your guide.

If you are interested in the extended tour, please let me know when booking so that we can plan our walking in a better way.
