Hi! My name is Julia. Born in Russia, I've become a passionate lover of Sweden and everything about and around it. That's why I've spent half of my life studying the Swedish mentality, traditions and history... At the moment I work with various projects, some of which involve teaching Swedish, guiding in Sweden, writing books about Sweden - and that's what I'd like to share with you: my knowledge of all the secrets I've discovered so far. What makes me so different from other guides? Well, here are some examples: - I've written 3 thick travel guides over Sweden, Stockholm and Scandinavia, all of them with tons of fascinating facts - I've been guiding in Sweden since 2000 - I create excursions for various travel agencies - I give lectures about Swedish mentality and customs

  • What you will see and do

Skansen is probably one of the most famous museums in Sweden - and, what is more important, it's the world's oldest open-air museum. It's really a must for those who visit Stockholm for the first time - or those interested in the Swedish culture and traditions.

Skansen gives you a perfect idea of what life in Sweden was like about 100-300 years ago. You can see the original houses and farmsteads from the whole country, as they were moved here instead of being demolished. In today's Skansen, you can see people wearing traditional clothes for the time and region of the country, while in the "city part" of the museum several masters still show the way various crafts used to be carried out.

During our walk around this open-air museum, you'll be able to learn about some traditions, style of living and peculiarities of the architectural styles typical for some regions. Why are so many cottages in Sweden painted red? How come that a simple peasant's house in the north of Sweden turned out to be one of the most decorated ones? What was so different in a Swedish school only one century ago? We'll also see and learn something about the domestic animals originating from Sweden. Besides, Skansen is a zoo with Nordic animals, which you can see after our tour.

We go around the park, talk about different regions, some customs and traditions, way of living - and look inside some of the houses. Please note that we visit different buildings depending on the season.
