Hi! My name is Julia. Born in Russia, I've become a passionate lover of Sweden and everything about and around it. That's why I've spent half of my life studying the Swedish mentality, traditions and history... At the moment I work with various projects, some of which involve teaching Swedish, guiding in Sweden, writing books about Sweden - and that's what I'd like to share with you: my knowledge of all the secrets I've discovered so far. What makes me so different from other guides? Well, here are some examples: - I've written 3 thick travel guides over Sweden, Stockholm and Scandinavia, all of them with tons of fascinating facts - I've been guiding in Sweden since 2000 - I create excursions for various travel agencies - I give lectures about Swedish mentality and customs

  • What you will see and do

Are you planning to come to Stockholm for the first time? Then it's very important to get acquainted with its most famous places, touch its older history, learn its legends and secrets.

First, some must-sees that we'll stop at:
    - Stortorget - the oldest square in Stockholm
    - the statue of Saint George and the dragon
    - Mårten Trotzigs gränd - the narrowest lane
    - the smallest statue in Stockholm (don't forget to take with you a coin... Why? Well, let's find out!)
    - Storkyrkan - Saint Nicolaus church

Maybe, something more? Here are our "extras":
    - We'll explore the three isles that form Stockholm's heart: Stadsholmen (known as Gamla stan, or the Old town), Riddarholmen (the Knights' isle) and Helgeandsholmen, where the Swedish parlament is situated. We'll also have a look at Norrmalm, but just a very short one.
    - We'll learn about the most tragic thing that has ever happened in Sweden: we'll find out some crucial facts about the famous Stockholm's Blood bath.
    - We'll hear some legends and stories about some of the buildings.
    - We'll see how a stone older than 1000 years can be successfully used in building the houses.
    - We'll touch the oldest building in Stockholm.
    - We'll learn something very special about all those sweet narrow lanes in Stockholm.

And that's not all! Our walk won't be about the exact dates - it will be about the spirit, the atmosphere, the happenings in the capital of Sweden!

We'll wind up with a cup of coffee in one of the cafes in the heart of Stockholm so that I could answer your questions - or we could just talk about the Swedish mentality, their customs and traditions, way of life (not included in the time and price of the tour, but count on about en extra hour).

Julia’s tour was excellent ... she was very knowledgeable about Stockholm and the history of the city, which was even more impressive considering how much power changed between the Nordic nations over the years, and how most of the Kings were either Frederik or Christian. It was super hot, which Julia was very mindful of. After the tour, Julia joined us for coffee and cake, and gave us some great suggestions for the rest of our time in Sweden. Highly recommended!

My parents loved their tour with Julia. She was so accommodating and flexible, they are elderly and needed to be picked up from their hotel, and the route of the tour needed to be adjusted to take breaks. Additionally, she has a keen interest in all things, and it shows! She is also an incredible teacher and is able to explain things and teach them to any kind of audience. Lastly, she is very friendly and especially kind. I would recommend Julia to anyone, and will keep her in mind in the future for sure!

We very much enjoyed this activity. Julia is an excellent guide with great knowledge and above all sensibility to her clients. She offered us a perfect glimpse on Stockholm and we felt like being friends to her and the city she so lovingly understandable and interestingly presented to us. Completely off the touristic main track. We highly recommend Julia's tour and guidance

Great introduction to the founding of Stockholm with good descriptions of the kings and nobleman of note and the architectural influences. A good place to start for first time visitors. Julia was very knowledgable and keenly interested. We chose this tour with Julia as there was a maximum of 6 people for the tour. Richard & Toni (Sydney, Australia)
