Hello! My name is Sonia and I am an Italian for foreigners teacher. I am friendly, open and curious, I love nature, good food, walking and knowing new people and places. I live near the new Milan Fair Exhibition complex where they take place the most important trade fairs of the city. It is here that I grew up and I have lived all my life; so I can say that I have known Milan since I was born. I work with people who come from all over the world and often I had the opportunity to meet my online students in person when they came to Milan for work or on holidays. It was showing them the city that I discovered another passion: to accompany tourists and visitors around Milan to make them see the city with the eyes and the heart of a "local", outside of the usual clichés.

  • What you will see and do

In this tour we will discover another face of the most Italian busiest city where people are always in a hurry, some relaxing corners that you don't expect to find in Milan: old cloisters, a secret garden, the ancient ruins of the Roman Empire and small and quiet streets where time seems to be stopped.

Our tour starts in Santa Maria delle Grazie that is famous for “Cenacolo Vinciano” and it is part of Unesco Heritage List. The church hides a small cloister, a silent spot immersed in the green where you can relax admiring the beauty of the building. In front of the church you can find “Casa degli Atellani” with Leonardo Da Vinci's vineyard and Palazzo delle Stelline.

The next stop of the tour is a secret little garden that most Milanese don't know, where mums take their children to play. Not far from this place, there is another jewel: the Bramante's cloisters at Cattolica University. From there we will walk along old streets, discovering the ancient ruins and other traces of the Roman Empire and interesting stories like that of the ruins of a church, destroyed during the bombings of the Second World War, that was built to host a miraculous painting.
