Hello! My name is Sonia and I am an Italian for foreigners teacher. I am friendly, open and curious, I love nature, good food, walking and knowing new people and places. I live near the new Milan Fair Exhibition complex where they take place the most important trade fairs of the city. It is here that I grew up and I have lived all my life; so I can say that I have known Milan since I was born. I work with people who come from all over the world and often I had the opportunity to meet my online students in person when they came to Milan for work or on holidays. It was showing them the city that I discovered another passion: to accompany tourists and visitors around Milan to make them see the city with the eyes and the heart of a "local", outside of the usual clichés.

  • What you will see and do

Usually most of the tourists that come to Milan visit only one part of the city centre with its most famous landmarks: Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. But this is something that you can do also by yourself with the help of a guide book. In this tour I want to show you a different face of the city centre.

We will visit some beautiful and old churches: San Gottardo in Corte, San Bernardino alle Ossa, the Basilica of San Giovanni in Conca and Santa Maria presso San Satiro. And I will tell you the story of a miraculous painting called “Madonna De' Tencitt” in vicolo del Laghetto where once arrived the channel that was used to take into Milan the marble for the construction of Duomo Cathedral.

We will go inside the University of Milan to discover old and beautiful cloisters from which we can admire another famous landmark of the city: the Velasca Tower.

We will stop in the quiet piazza Sant'Alessandro and then we will visit the area around via Torino with the small and quiet streets of the old Milan that belong to the district called “Le cinque vie”, and the most famous food shop (Peck) where you can buy many Italian delicacies to take back home with you.
