Hi there! I'm a milliner and I've been living in London practising my craft for about 10 years. You may be aware that Britain has quite a reputation for hats, so I'm looking forward to giving you a taste of that culture! I have two labels: Sahar Millinery and UglyLovely. I make hats for people going to events (yes, this included the Royal Wedding, and Ascot!), as well as for film and TV (yes, this included Downton Abbey!) My background is in costume design, and I love how a hat encapsulates a bit of costume, fashion, art, sculpture, all in one piece!

  • What you will see and do

Art and Fashion come together in this creative life drawing experience.

One of London's most inventive Life Drawing sessions were started by a collaborative effort between artist Layla Mohammed, and milliner Sahar Freemantle.

Focused around hats and costume, we style the models in fantastic outfits, creating awesome shapes, elegant drapery, colourful patterns, interesting textures, and creative themes such as: Clown Chic, Ascot, Monochrome, Cabaret, Animals, 20's, Grecian... the list goes on.

The hats are taken from Sahar Millinery and UglyLovely and are suitable for artists of all levels however, there is no 'taught' element; it is not a taught life drawing 'class', but an opportunity for you to come and draw in your own style.

We pride ourselves in creating fun, inclusive and encouraging art sessions with lovely people. The professional artists who attend are normally happy for people to take photos of their work. The sessions are also perfect for fashion illustrators.

We provide basic art materials such as paper and charcoal. Most people arrive at 6:45 to set up. Do ask in advance if you require an easel.

    All levels welcome!
