Meet your host, Humberto B
Hi Friends! Four years after, I found myself attending primary school at the same square that revolution happened: My life story interwinds with the history of this city! I was born, raised and lived my entire life in the city. Lisboa is my passion! I was writing a pilot for a musical comedy and I went downtown to feel the vibe. It was then that I realised I could show the true local experiences. I'm doing something that I felt in love with, show you our city’s history and culture. I'm hosting the incridible Fado @ Alfama, a beautiful FADO concert, in an atonishing venue with a light traditional snack. I'm also hosting rated #1 walk in Lisboa's historical center. It takes place in the Bairro Alto/Bica/Chiado neighborhoods through alleys, courtyards and shortcuts.
What you will see and do
No visit to Lisboa is complete without a Fado experience. FADO @ Alfama is the ultimate event to live and feel Portuguese Lisboa's traditional music.
Starting at 5PM on Friday’s and Tuesday's. It will begin with a short visit of the beautiful Alfama neighborhood, where our Fado experience takes place. You’ll hear about some of our traditions and culture and a brief introduction to the history of Fado, to set the context for our evening.
The FADO @ Alfama takes place on an exclusive venue: it's a personal full experience only for the guests who book it, not joining a Fado Restaurant with others.
This will be followed by a 40-minute tribute concert to Amalia Rodrigues, Portugal’s most famous and well-loved Fado singer. I will add some commentary during the concert to explain the essence and meaning of Amalia’s Fado and why it is such a huge part of the Portuguese soul and culture.
Since it is afternoon you may have walked a lot in our hilly city already, so we'll serve a snack of traditional petiscos. There's no Fado without some wine and olives too.
But don't worry - I'm not singing :) A highly talented Fado singer and musicians are performing for you! What's included
Light Traditional Portuguese Snack (Petisco)Cancellation policy
Where you'll meet
We are in Alfama, the ancient and traditional neighborhood. Plus we’ll have the Fado concert on a beautiful venue. Please notice we’re now doing it indoors! Alfama’s noise is part of the neighborhood but it was starting to be a little to much :)
